Symphonies for the Kids — Micky Greaney
is a brilliant album from one of Birmingham's finest
singer/songwriters. Songs like A Better Day and Once in Every Life are
the distilled results of a combination of astute observation of the
world and personal experience.
Featuring among others superb jazz saxophonist Steve Ajao and Simon
Fowler of Ocean Colour Scene, the songs are constructed around an
acoustic guitar that is fragile and brutal in turns, supported by
sweeping string arrangements and percussion. Wonderful stuff.
Micky has kindly given his permission for a couple of tracks to be
made available here for your listening pleasure. These may take a
while to download on a 56k modem, but are well worth the wait.

to the Thief — Radiohead
to the Thief is Radiohead's new album. It's like the best of
everything they've done before put together to form something that's
so much more than the sum of its components. You might not like it at
first, but give it a few listens and you'll see it for what it really
is — stunning.
Hail to the Thief
Computer — Radiohead
Computer was lauded as one of the all-time great albums following
its release. Rightly so. It is an incredibly subtle album of superb
dynamics and emotional tension, comprised of tracks of an almost
painful melancholy. Utterly brilliant. Buy it and be torn apart.
